The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) is the state's sales and marketing arm and lead agency for attracting new business investment, encouraging the expansion of existing industry and small businesses, developing new domestic and international markets, as well as planning and mobilizing state resources for economic development. (The Center of Innovation Program is an integrated strategic industry component of GDEcD).

Georgia Tech is the host institution for the Center of Innovation for Logistics allowing the Center to leverage its vast institutional knowledge and resources in support of the logistics industry.
The programs of the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) grow Georgia’s economy by expanding research capacity at universities; fueling the launch of new companies and helping companies make the connections that drive new product development and business expansion. Working in concert with the Centers of Innovation, GRA targets research capabilities in areas crucial to the advancement and competitiveness of Georgia’s strategic industries.
